IPA CIS
On 15-16 April 2021, IOM Moscow Chief of Mission Abdusattor Esoev took part in the International Parliamentary Conference "Global Challenges and Threats in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic", as well as in the 52nd Plenary Session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, dedicated to the issues of migration during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his speech, IOM Moscow Com drew attention to the scale of pandemic restrictions. Obviously, most of the usual legal mechanisms proved to be inapplicable to this unprecedented situation. “In the future, a new format of migration relations should be created that can work in emergency circumstances.” At the end of the discussion on the topic of migration, the parliamentarians discussed and adopted a Model Migration Code for the CIS member states, prepared by the IPA CIS, in the development of which IOM also participated.
