Moscow Vacancy Fair for Foreign Citizens

On the 10th of February 2012 the Department of Labour and Employment of Moscow city Government in cooperation with IOM Moscow organized a second vacancy fair for foreign citizens, searching for jobs in Moscow. The vacancy fair was organized in the premises of Moscow Center for Labour Exchange. Holding of such fairs contribute to raising much interest of labour migrants to the vacancies offered by some Moscow enterprises. Among them there were: “ZIL” Plant, “Mospromstroy”, “Progress Service” group of companies, “Grabli” restaurant chain. The fair was attended by more then 70 migrants, in majority Tajik, Uzbek and Kyrgyz nationals.

The first vacancy fair for labour migrants was organized on the 6th of December last year and it has attracted around 150 people. This pilot fair turned out to be successful, and the Department decided to hold such fairs on a regular basis, giving a real chance to migrants to find a decent legal work. As a result of the first vacancy fair, the number of applicants to personnel units of the enterprises, which took part in the fair, has considerably raised. During the first fair such professions as a cook, a baker were in great demand, that’s why it was decided to add vacancies offered by “Grabli” restaurant chain.

Specialists of the Representative Office of Migration Service of the Republic of Tajikistan, of the Trade Union of Labour Migrants took active part in a work of the fair.
