UNHCR training for IOM staff
On October 16, 2013, UNHCR Refugee Reception Centre in Moscow hosted the training seminar for IOM Moscow staff working in Migrants Assistance Division. In the beginning of the seminar, Ms. Irina Scherbakova, the Legal Counselor of UNHCR in the Russian Federation, briefly outlined the main principles and approaches of UNHCR in working with the refugees and asylum seekers, as well as present main rights of such category of migrants. A separate session of the training was devoted to the issue of existing cooperation among state and non-state organizations in providing counseling and legal support to the persons who are applying for asylum in the Russian Federation. At the end of the seminar, the participants got the chance to practice their counseling skills on specific cases. The seminar ended with the brief tour around the premises of UNHCR Refugee Reception Centre.
